(AP Photo/Seth Wenig) It was reported Monday the team had tried out Babin and Matt Shaughnessy.A veteran of 12 NFL seasons, Babin joins the Cardinals with 64.5 career sacks on his resume. He notched two last season with the New York Jets, and in 2013 tallied 7.5 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 35-year-old has also played for the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans. He also appeared in two games with the Baltimore Ravens this season, though he did not record a statistic. The Cardinals expected to be without Redding, who dealt with a high ankle sprain during the season and left the team’s Week 17 loss to the Seahawks with a similar injury. Since then, head coach Bruce Arians expressed doubt as to whether or not he would be able to return in time for Saturday’s game, or if at all the rest of the postseason. The veteran finished this season with five combined tackles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.Losing Okafor, however, comes as a surprise. The 24-year-old has not had the kind of season he did last season, when he led the team with eight sacks, but has been solid as both a pass rusher and against the run. In 13 games this season, he produced 39 combined tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery. 0 Comments Share Former Cardinals kicker Phil Dawson retires Derrick Hall satisfied with D-backs’ buying and selling The Arizona Cardinals have been forced to tweak their roster ahead of their Divisional Round playoff matchup with the Green Bay Packers. The team announced Tuesday it had signed linebacker Jason Babin and elevated linebacker Gabe Martin from the practice squad to the active roster.
