Sanctuary cities not making us safer

first_imgI would like to thank Kathy Sheehan, our wonderful mayor of Albany, for making us the East Coast San Francisco. Now we can look forward to having wonderful illegal immigrants such as Francisco Sanchez being protected while hard-working taxpayers are put into danger because the undocumented immigrants have more rights than they do. How do we know this? Look what happened to poor innocent Kathryn Steinle while walking with her parents on the pier. They were minding their own business when she was attacked by Francisco Sanchez, a five-time deported felon, who says he “accidentally” shot her with a gun he fired three times. You have got to be kidding. I find it very hard to “accidentally” shoot a gun three times. Only a completely ignorant jury could ever believe such garbage. But thank goodness that Albany is now added to a so-called sanctuary city, where law-abiding citizens have very few rights compared to those who come here illegally and break laws on a regular basis. They won’t be reported and they won’t be prosecuted. Wow, it’s better to be illegal than do things the right way. What kind of a twisted world do we live in?I’m all for giving people a break, but not when it puts our families in danger every single day. How many of you out there think that you would ever get away with “accidentally” shooting a gun three times and killing a person? This should serve as a wake-up call for everyone who thinks sanctuary cities are a good idea. Where is our sanctuary? Where can I go to be protected for breaking the law? Nowhere.Anyone who doesn’t grieve for this family and the needless loss of their 31-year-old daughter in favor of sanctuary cities needs to have a reality check.Denise CrisciGlenvilleMore from The Daily Gazette:EDITORIAL: Thruway tax unfair to working motoristsFoss: Should main downtown branch of the Schenectady County Public Library reopen?EDITORIAL: Find a way to get family members into nursing homesEDITORIAL: Urgent: Today is the last day to complete the censusEDITORIAL: Beware of voter intimidation Categories: Letters to the Editor, Opinionlast_img read more
