“We know that gambling problems are increasing in the population, and that December is our biggest gambling month,” Norsk Tipping chief executive Åsne Havnelid said at the time. AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to LinkedInLinkedInShare to FacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitter Instead, the NBO advocates a licensing model for private operators, with a tax rate of 15%, which it said would result in an expected channelling rate of more than 95%. “The measures against novel coronavirus (Covid-19) mean that more people can experience spending more time alone than they usually do during the Christmas month. For vulnerable players, this can lead to more gambling, and we want to prevent that.” The introduction of the Norwegian Media Authority’s new tool for stopping gambling advertising on television and subsequent tightening of the guidelines of Norsk Tipping is part of the government’s preventive work against gambling problems. The government said the decision to act came in the wake of the University of Bergen’s ‘Extent of gambling and computer gambling problems in Norway in 2019’ survey which showed an increase in gambling problems compared with the previous survey from 2015, in part due to the impact of advertising. From 1 January, the Norwegian Media Authority will have the opportunity to stop TV advertising from overseas gambling companies. From the same date, the Ministry of Culture will also tighten the guidelines for Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto, limiting their advertising to what is necessary to channel consumers away from unlicensed private operators and towards the two state-owned operators. “It is serious that gambling problems in the population increase, and we are working on a number of measures to reverse this trend,” said Abid Raja, Minister of Culture. The operator reduced the maximum monthly loss limit on its high-risk games by 25%, with customers only permitted to lose up to NOK7,500 (£634/€707/$845) each month when playing KongKasino, eFlax, Bingoria and Yezz. Tags: Norsk Tipping Regions: Norway According to the NBO, the bill, which seeks to unify the existing Lottery Act, Gambling Act and Totalisator Act and maintain Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto’s monopolies in the market, would mean poor standards of protection and value for customers. Earlier this month, Norsk Tipping introduce a series of temporary measures that will run throughout December and January designed to reduce spending and playing time. Marketing regulation At the same time, the Norwegian government announced that it will commit an additional NOK15m to problem gambling efforts in the country. The new funding came after the Norwegian Industry Association for Online Gaming (Norsk Bransjeforening for Onlinespill/NBO) in October called for a complete rethink on rules relating to the sector in its official response to the country’s proposed new gambling legislation. Norsk Tipping marketing to be curtailed further from next year Norsk Tipping will see its marketing presence curtailed from the start of 2021 as part of an overhaul of gambling advertising rules in Norway. Subscribe to the iGaming newsletter Norsk Tipping also increased the mandatory break players must take after playing continuously for one hour, with this rising from 90 seconds to 15 minutes. 21st December 2020 | By Richard Mulligan Topics: Marketing regulation “The possibility of stopping TV advertising from foreign gambling companies is an important measure in the work of preventing gambling problems. With less gambling advertising on TV, we can also tighten the guidelines for Norsk Tipping’s marketing.” The new guidelines will, among other things, mean that the use of tools in Norsk Tipping’s marketing of high profits and money for good causes will be toned down. The new guidelines also increase the requirements for responsible marketing, with all advertising to include contact information for a gambling helpline services. Email Address
“In passing the independent auditing process, Stats Perform has demonstrated secure and robust internal procedures for the collation of sporting event data for betting and may now utilise the data standards kitemark.” Andrew Ashenden, Chief Betting Officer at Stats Perform, added that the supplier would continue to work on ensuring high levels of integrity even beyond the IBIA’s standards. “The company was well-prepared for the auditing process, and the evidence that was reviewed was representative of a company culture that is in line with the core principles of IBIA‘s data integrity standards and committed to continually improving upon them.” 20th January 2021 | By Daniel O’Boyle All data collection must be carried out by people aged 18 and above, whose identities have been verified, and additional background checks must be carried out to ensure there are no conflicts of interest. “This accreditation is thanks to tireless quality and integrity efforts from our sports data operations teams over the past 15 years and, whilst we’re grateful for the recognition, we know our efforts don’t stop here,” Ashenden said. ”We continuously search for new threats and assess opportunities to improve our sports data processes, people and technology. Finally, the companies must also carry out a detailed risk assessment for all sporting events or competitions on which they collect data. All integrity issues must be flagged to all parties involved and any other relevant stakeholders. Now, the data supplier has become the first to receive accreditation for meeting all of the standards. The accreditation is assessed by the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA). Stats Perform first to secure IBIA data collection certification “I am delighted to announce that Stats Perform is the first company to meet the data standards protocols IBIA published in October 2020,” IBIA chief executive Khalid Ali said. The standards cover three main areas: personnel vetting and training; data collation processes, and data integrity and reporting. The IBIA set out its new standards in October 2020, arguing that best practice standards would help protect sporting integrity. “Stats Perform met every requirement set out in the data standards protocols,” eCOGRA chief executive Shaun McCallaghan said. Stats Perform, an affiliate member of IBIA, was quick to support the decision and announce it would undergo the auditing process to secure a Data Standards Kitemark. The data supplier must also make clear the source of data by marking whether it has been generated in-person at the venue, via television or via another method. They must also set out the speed, latency and process of transmission and hold all their data for at least three years. IBIA first proposed a set of standards for betting data collection in May 2020. We just need to think that they are a new opponent and what will we do as a team against that opponent,” said one of IPL’s greatest performers.“It is that simple for us and we keep doing right things on the field, I am sure we will have the fifth one in the bag.”Trent Boult picked up a groin niggle during the first qualifier but the skipper is confident that one of his primary performers will be available for the match that matters the most.“Trent looks pretty good. He is going to have a session today with all of us and we will see how he goes, he pulled up pretty well in last few days, so fingers crossed and hopefully he plays,” the skipper said.On a different note, Rohit spoke about how Mumbai Indians have been able to build a solid core team over the years with players like Kieron Pollard, Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal — Ishan Kishan, Rahul Chahar along with someone like Boult.“It’s a no brainer that (Boult) he is the best bowler with the new ball, when it comes to swinging the ball back into the batsman and luckily for us we got him traded from Delhi and he has not disappointed anyone of us,” Rohit said, reminding what Capitals are losing out on.“Looking at the squad, the strength, the balance of this team, you know I cannot point out anything (weakness) to be honest,” the skipper said.“…And it’s not a rocket science, we have worked really hard for this, balance this players, all this players were available to all the teams,” he said.He lauded the Mumbai Indians management for identifying the right players and investing in them.“Let me tell you that, you know right from No 1 Quinton De Kock to No 11 Jasprit Bumrah, all these players were available for all the squads, but we invested in them at the start and we had faith in them.”“A lot of credit goes to Mumbai Indians team management, the scout, they have done a great job with all these guys making sure they get that comfort, they get that backing, otherwise it is not possible, it is not possible to have squad like that,” he said.So what would he have done had he captained a side against a team like Mumbai Indians?“Firstly, it is never going to happen, I am never going to go in the opposition camp, and captain the other team against MI,” India’s white-ball vice-captain said, making his priorities clear.
