Pakistan has played cowardly today, let’s put it this way. I don’t think they’re interested, united. It’s disappointing and very disappointing.”But it’s only Pakistan’s first match. We have to back them.”advertisementAkhtar also lashed out at Pakistan’s team selection and apparent lack of intent from the team in their World Cup opener: “I am not able to understand the team selection as well. They kept Shoaib Malik out. I think Pakistan needs to focus. Please look interested. I am very disheartened. At least look interested.”Earlier on Friday, former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja had lashed out at the team and urged them to wake up and smell the coffee after the horror batting show in Nottingham. “I think it was the bouncer barrage that did them in. I think this is the length that they have to deal with [in the World Cup]. Everybody would have seen this batting performance. So the other teams would be gearing up to bowl this length against Pakistan,” Ramiz Raja told the broadcasters. Also Read | World Cup 2019: Why perennial slow-starters Pakistan should not lose heartAlso Read | World Cup 2019: Sarfaraz Ahmed unfazed after Pakistan crash to humiliating defeatAlso See:last_img
