A single-family house located in Uribelarrea, Partido de Cañuelas, Buenos Aires. The project is implemented on a large lot (of 1 hectare) between two large poplar trees that serve as a wind barrier and as parasols in the summer. It consists of an open ground floor with service areas. Then the public and private sectors are located on the elevated floor, detaching themselves from the humid soil, thus achieving excellent views of the landscape. The functional approach is developed on a flexible floor around the vertical core (courtyard/staircase) generating a large entrance with natural lighting in the centre of the house, linking all levels to the garden terrace.Save this picture!© Alejandro PeralSave this picture!Ground FloorSave this picture!© Alejandro PeralConcept: The house is made up of two large horizontal suspended plates, pierced by the central courtyard, accompanied with vertical planes that go on to configure the envelope together with the large openings and sliding wooden panels. Conceptually, the tall volume can be completely opened to the landscape, achieving privacy and lighting control through its parasols.Program: Access to the house is achieved from the ground floor by taking the external staircase located in the central courtyard, crossing a semi-covered gallery that works as a transition between the landscape and the architecture. On the first floor, the public sector is developed oriented towards the front of the lot (north orientation) and the private sector to the east, capturing the morning sun. The workspace and kitchen are located on the sides. All spaces have a direct connection with the landscape and the internal courtyard, achieving natural ventilation in all environments, including the sanitary core. As a finish to the tour, we find the garden terrace becoming a viewpoint towards the natural landscape surrounded by green in all its extension.Save this picture!© Alejandro PeralSave this picture!Floor Plan First FloorSave this picture!© Alejandro PeralSustainability: To reduce the use of heating, aluminium frames with DVH were used. This improves the thermal comfort and acoustic insulation of the house. The utilized system was a radiant water slab with a wood-fired boiler as a heat source and a recirculating pump generating the water flow. The provision of hot water is achieved through the installation of solar panels located on the terrace. Control of the direct entry of sunlight is solved by means of sliding panels and by the natural screen generated by the existing trees located on the sides. The garden terrace together with cross ventilation play an important role in improving interior thermal comfort. Finally, the purification of domestic wastewater is achieved through a biodigester tank obtaining an organic fertilizer that improves the quality of the soil.Save this picture!© Alejandro PeralSave this picture!Transversal SectionSave this picture!© Alejandro PeralProject gallerySee allShow lessAdelfas Residential Building / Ruiz Larrea y AsociadosSelected ProjectsUniversidad Torcuato di Tella Edificio Sáenz Valiente / Josep Ferrando ArchitectureSelected Projects Share CopyHouses•Uribelarrea, Argentina Houses “COPY” Manufacturers Brands with products used in this architecture project Uribelarrea House / Estudio SSARQSave this projectSaveUribelarrea House / Estudio SSARQ Argentina Area:  110 m² Year Completion year of this architecture project Projects CopyAbout this officeEstudio SSARQOfficeFollow#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesOn FacebookArgentinaPublished on July 17, 2020Cite: “Uribelarrea House / Estudio SSARQ” [Casa Uribelarrea / Estudio SSARQ] 17 Jul 2020. Amy Schumer Pitches a Hamilton Follow-Up to Lin-Manuel Miranda

first_img After leaving that big tip, Amy Schumer is not throwing away her mop shot to ride the Hamilton wave. In the upcoming fourth season of Inside Amy Schumer, the Emmy winner pitches her own hip-hop retelling of American history to Lin-Manuel Miranda himself. That’s right: The certified genius isn’t the only one who can spit rhymes about the Colonial era. What’s her name, man? Betsy Ross, and there’s a million things she hasn’t sewn. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly what Miranda had in mind, and he does, in fact, find a way to say no to this. Take a look at the clip from Entertainment Weekly below. Babies Walk in the Womb

first_imgNew vivid ultrasound imaging technologies reveal a nursery of activity inside the womb, reports the BBC News.  Click the link to see the amazingly clear pictures.  Unborn babies have been observed stretching, kicking and leaping from 12 weeks, before the mother is aware, and “From 26 weeks, they appear to exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccuping, and sucking,” the article states.  “Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth.”To think that these cute, innocent, vulnerable human beings, with all their emotions and capabilities, are subject to the most brutal executions is heart-rending.  Would not a being able to smile be capable of feeling pain?  This technology may be a powerful method to reduce abortions if we can just get people to watch.  A plain picture is worth a thousand loaded words.(Visited 9 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0last_img read more

Google Apps Marketplace Gets a Billing API

first_imgGoogle Apps Marktplace is becoming an ecosystem for app developers. But until this point, the service has not had an API that allows providers to bill customers for subscriptions.Google handles all billing and takes a 20% cut of the sale. That’s a lower percentage than Apple, for example, which takes 30% off the top for apps on its platform. Scott McMullan, partner lead for Google Apps, says the apps on the marketplace have a lower commission because they have a higher value.SlideRocket provides a Web-based platform for building presentations. It has a number of features that make it different from Power Point and desktop oriented products. You can easily add videos or audio. You can do polls. It comes with analytics.SlideRocket markets through the Web with an increasing focus on Google, said Chuck Dietrich, the company’s CEO in an interview today. The Google Apps Marketplace has 30 million users, which represents a significant market for the company. The API is designed to also be used for the Google Chrome Store where SlideRocket also offers its service.Provisioning is easier, too. A company can administer licenses through the billing API as employee counts go up or down. The Google Billing API has features such as the choice of offering per-seat, site-wide licensing or a mix of the two and the ability to subscribe buyers to applications on a fixed monthly or yearly billing plan, including an introductory free trial period if desired. The marketplace still has some limitations:Pay-as-you-go payments, where the application charges a fee for a given amount of usage and tracks the user’s decreasing remaining allotment, is currently unsupported. For example, you can’t bill according to the total number of emails a user sends.Invoicing — credit cards are the only currently supported billing instruments.A group inside of an organization can’t be billed. Licensing is currently for a specific set of named users. The billing API is well-documented and can be set up quickly. SlideRocket set up its API over a weekend.Google continues to build world-class APIs. The Google Apps Marketplace has become a leader in providing a place for customers to try a variety of apps. The billing API is the latest example of that leadership. Related Posts The Google Apps Marketplace now has a preliminary billing API that allows a SaaS vendor to manage subscriptions on its own platform.SlideRocket, GQueues, Cohuman, and WikiFYD are the first services to accept customer transactions using the API, which is powered by Google Checkout. 4 Fresh Technologies That Will Rescue You From Your Branding Rut

first_imgThe Dos and Don’ts of Brand Awareness Videos There’s no denying that digital marketing is at its peak — the problem is, many of the platforms we use have plateaued. As we strive to find innovation in branding, it may be time to look past what’s already been established to make something new of our own.As consumers become savvy to how brands operate, they’ve kept a tighter hold on their trust and loyalty. “Because consumers can easily search the web for product information and pricing, brands trying to sell themselves on those qualities won’t stand out,” says Marco Scognamiglio, global CEO of RAPP. “Instead, emotion and affinity are what drives today’s consumers. For brands and marketers, using new technology to create better individual experiences that create emotional attachment and drive consumer engagement is paramount.”Scognamiglio’s comments are borne out by recent studies. In its 2017 “Consumer Content Report: Influence in the Digital Age,” content platform vendor Stackla found that 90 percent of Millennials consider authenticity the driving force behind their support for a brand, and 30 percent have unfollowed a brand online because they felt the brand was no longer genuine.Thankfully, some savvy companies are finding a way to make authentic brand connections using a multiplatform approach — a tactic 72 percent of audience members say they would prefer. Here are four different technologies that are gaining traction as valuable marketing platforms in 2018: Branded Mobile AppsWhile CIOs and CTOs may be clamoring for their companies to start developing mobile apps for their businesses, the potential gains extend far beyond the screen. Mobile app downloads reached nearly 200 billion in 2017, and that number is only estimated to climb as the years go on. The average consumer spends five hours a day on his or her phone and uses an average of nine apps, making a mobile platform an ideal way to reach your audience.Teaming with a skilled app development company that knows what it’s doing can help you break through to the masses. “The huge rewards to be had in mobile development have drawn hordes of potential startup success stories to the market, but only a select few break through to achieve financial success,” explains Marc Fischer, CEO and co-founder of Dogtown Media. “Partnering with a dedicated mobile app development company and planning your app for marketability from day one makes the difference between the success and failure.” In-Car AdsIt may seem like something out of “Futurama,” but for those looking to reach luxury consumers, an entirely new marketing avenue is driving by. Between Waymo’s and Tesla’s self-driving cars and Uber’s recent deal with Volvo to acquire 24,000 autonomous SUVs, there is soon to be an entire audience of drivers who don’t need to focus on the road.According to Thomas Bloch, formerly of media agency PHD, these conversations have already begun. “In the near future, autonomous cars will process staggering amounts of data: current and past destinations, speed of travel, demographics and biometrics of the riders, present and future weather, traffic conditions, and nearby landmarks and commercial locations — all of which marketers could access to achieve an unprecedented level of precision in consumer messaging.” ChatbotsAs we switch from man to machine, chatbots have become a fantastic new way to engage your audience with your brand. Think of the bots as Apple’s Siri but personalized for your business. And as new as the technology may be, this marketing method is already a proven success.Brands like ASOS and National Geographic tested the waters with bots of their own for a limited time, and both were well received, due mostly to the bots’ sense of humor. Other companies, such as Whole Foods and Starbucks, have taken a more permanent approach but are moving forward slowly. As of right now, Starbucks’s bot will only help you order coffee — it can’t deliver it to you — but to be fair, your order can be as complicated as you’d like. Virtual RealityVR has seriously grown in popularity over the past few years, if the online buzz is any indication. While full saturation may still be far away, forward-thinking marketers are considering advertising options for VR platforms now.“Virtual reality is becoming increasingly commonplace as a marketing tool for brands big and small,” says Ashley Murphy of Stribling & Associates. “The challenge is using VR in a way that makes sense for your overall brand messaging and target audience. VR marketing is still emerging, so it’s a great time to explore your options and get ahead of the curve.”In the end, when refreshing your branding strategy, be sure to deliver value first. Consumers know when they are being sold to, so creating an authentic feeling with any marketing tool you use is the key to gaining a lasting result. Last week, a one-man commission appointed by the Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI) and headed by lawyer Sushil Dutt Salwan, cleared the clouds of a doping controversy hovering above the versatile middle-distance runner.Rani who won the 1500 m event and was placed third in the 5000 m at last month’s Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, was stripped of her medals following dope tests in Korea that returned positive results-she was said to have taken the banned nandrolone decanoate, an injectable testosterone whose anabolic effects remain active in the human body for a long time. Now Salwan’s exhaustive report, submitted to AAFI President and MP Suresh Kalmadi and Secretary Lalit Bhanot (both have rushed to Monte Carlo to take up the matter with the International Amateur Athletics Federations), has a revealing tale to tell.HIGHLIGHTS OF THE REPORTShot in the arm: Armed with Sushil Dutt Salwan’s (left) report, Suresh Kalmadi is taking up the matter with the international athletics bodyChallenge the dope test report of the Busan laboratories. The discrepancies between samples A and B taken after the 1500 m event in Busan is internationally unacceptable. The figure of “6” in ng/ml appears to be overwritten by hand. All instrument printouts carry wrong dates. This may be because the reports are not genuine. The same sample should be sent to an International Olympic Committee-accredited dope-testing laboratory immediately. After speaking to several officials who were part of the Indian contingent and scrutinising a range of documents, he has brought out the dubious manner in which Rani’s tests were carried out in Seoul, far removed from the testing norms laid down by world federations.advertisementAt the same time, Salwan has also called for radical changes in the conduct of coaches, trainers, doctors and sports administrators in India. He also criticised the casual manner in which the problem of doping is generally dealt with.Kalmadi, while accepting the report, said, “It was unfortunate that Sunita Rani had to suffer after performing outstandingly at Busan.”The report, available exclusively to india today, mentions that tests on Rani’s first urine sample (A) on September 30, 2002 at the Dope Testing Centre in Delhi were negative. It obviated the need to examine the second sample (B).But now, Salwan insists in his report that a dna test needs to be carried out on the untested sample to prove beyond doubt that the urine collected belonged to Rani.Based on the September 30 report, Rani was cleared for Busan. She won the 1500 m gold on October 10 and was taken away for a test to a place where entry, under normal circumstances, should have been heavily restricted. But it wasn’t.Salwan spoke to journalists who covered the Games and was told that almost anyone could have walked in and tampered with the samples.Curiously, after the 5000 m event two days later, Rani was asked to present herself before a panel. Among those present were chef de mission Jagdish Tytler, Bhanot and Sunita’s coach Renu Kohli.Objections were raised about the procedure adopted for the test and the documentation itself. Here are some of the findings:The B sample acquired on October 10 was not sent to a separate lab for tests. The difference between nandrolone content was stark-21 ng/ml in the first case, 6 ng/ml in the second. This is not internationally acceptable. Most of the data sheets of the Doping Control Center (an internationally accredited lab with ISO 17025 rating) in Seoul did not carry dates. One printout showed a date of “October 200”, another October 16, 2001.There is no proof that the printout relates to the dates when samples were taken. In the report, the same doctor has signed for different officials. At one place the figure “6” in ng/ml has been overwritten by hand, it appears to be “2”.The men who have carried the report to Monte Carlo are now out to prove that Rani was framed. The Salwan findings certainly point in that direction.SALWAN’S COUNSELSAI does not adopt scientific methods of testing. There is no random testing.India’s dope-testing laboratory is not accredited by the IOC.Athletes take drugs so that they are cleared just before a competition. SAI and other federations have to counter this.Short notice and no notice-testing are the best means to curtail drug use.Coaches and team doctors should be responsible for doping cases.Sportspersons who have tested positive and whose appeal has been rejected by the IOC should be summarily dismissed from their jobs. Our coaches should be trained to world standards.Labs need to maintain high standards in order to earn the respect of the sports community. The food supplement taken by Sunita should be sent for analysis to ascertain if it contains any contaminated substance.Coaches should be research oriented. At present, they do not carry out any research on athletes under their charge.advertisementlast_img read more

Boxing rips dignity away like a stolen heart – David Haye is a spent force

first_imgBoxing accommodates no calumny, which is why David Haye should look back over his pronouncements before and after his devastating second defeat by Tony Bellew and consider doing what all fighters must eventually do: quit the day job.Three days before the 37-year-old Londoner endured his what might prove to be his farewell nightmare, he confessed: “My only reason for being in boxing is to prove I’m the best on the planet. I need to prove I’m better than Tony before I can think about that.”Haye, with bits of his chiselled body falling off him, dreamt still of winning back his world heavyweight title, of challenging the young behemoths, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.“Even if I beat Tony,” he added, “I’ll have to watch the tape back and say, OK, is that person good enough to beat the Joshuas and Wilders of the world? If I’m getting caught with shots and missing … I’m not going to put myself in the ring with these guys. I’m not just going to get my head punched in. I’m not stupid. I’ll only do it if I genuinely believe I can win the fight. Share on Messenger Even an hour before the fight on Saturday night at the O2 Arena, he said: “If I can’t get Bellew out of there in good fashion, my aspirations of winning titles are down the drain. So I need to go out and really put on a good performance.”It took Bellew less than a quarter of an hour to convince Haye his ambitions were illusory. Yet, having declared unequivocally beforehand he would need to win in style to carry on, Haye later dodged questions about retirement – far more efficiently than when he had attempted to avoid the head shots that had put him down twice in the third and once in the fifth, leading to the compassionate intervention of the referee.“I dunno. I didn’t feel that great in there,” he said, “but I’ll have to review the tapes and see exactly what went wrong.” The tapes are a fighter’s comfort blanket – or hair shirt.Without reference to them, he could say: “Tony Bellew boxed a great fight and I didn’t, plain and simple. Maybe after having these rounds, [I could] get back in there and keeping the momentum going, maybe I’ll put on a better performance. As of tonight, I was bettered by the better man.”So, a confusing psychological mishmash of diversion and denial rounded out the saga. Haye, who endures pain in the ring without complaint, could not inflict more on his psyche in the aftermath of losing to his Liverpudlian tormentor for the second time. He might cut the umbilical cord to his sport in the next few days, or he might try to squeeze one or two more paydays out of it.Haye, who has never lacked for swagger, is used to accusations that he is only in boxing now for the money but it is a curious slur on a professional fighter. It is, after all, what he does for a living. His dilemma is convincing customers to pay to watch him. His reflexes have dulled, his balance, composure and judgment have disintegrated to the point where his blows do not land with the force of old against someone as ring savvy as Bellew, and his fading punch resistance makes him a sitting duck at this level. Read more Share on WhatsApp Sportblogcenter_img Tony Bellew targets Tyson Fury while David Haye ponders his future The Recap: sign up for the best of the Guardian’s sport coverage The promoter Eddie Hearn, lending professional distance to the debate, observes: “He came up to me at the end of the fight and he went: ‘I really enjoyed the atmosphere’ and I’m thinking … like, he enjoyed the walk! But he’s never been hurt like that before.“He’s got a lot of heart. Fair play to him. And he boxed six rounds with a snapped achilles [in the first fight 14 months ago]. But, when people review his career, they will always see he lost to Tony Bellew, KO11, and he lost to Tony Bellew, KO5, as the last two. There’s no point in coming back. He’s not the same fighter. He can win. He can beat people but he can’t beat elite world-class fighters.“He’s still a world-class fighter but he’s not the old David Haye. Still very dangerous. He hit Tony with a shot and I know when he’s hurt, because he starts going for a walk, and you could see his [unsteady] legs. That was a dangerous moment but he’s not the fighter he was.”Was he still marketable?“Not box office. Dillian Whyte would be a really big O2 fight. The only thing I will say is he spent quite a long time giving value for money on pay-per-view. I know the first fight was a bit weird but there was a lot of drama. And, even tonight, he put his bollocks on the line. He didn’t take a knee. He put it all on the line. He does go out like that. Even getting up from the last knockdown – he went down face first.”It’s not the most dignified exit from a lifetime’s work but boxing is a job that rips away dignity like a stolen heart. There is another pre-fight observation from Haye that is worth revisiting: “Some times you’ve got to knock a building down to rebuild it. If the foundations aren’t right, no matter how nice a building looks, it will crumble sooner or later. For me to challenge some of these giants in the division, I can’t have a weak foundation.”When Bellew knocked the building down on Saturday, everyone knew Haye’s foundations were as likely to be put back together again as Humpty Dumpty.
